March 3, 2010 Next Meeting This Wednesday, March 3rd, Kim and Long Tran will be bringing in a variety of Chinese dishes which we will share at the hall, 2174 Market Street, 5:30 p.m. If work gets you to the hall later than that, please attend as there will be enough food for all. February 3, 2010 First Business Meeting Our first business meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. We welcome to the Noble Grand’s office Mike Ziganti and to the Vice Grand’s office Tom Barton. Our dinner will be held at the Capri Restaurant, 2275 Market Street, 5:30pm. We ask that members limit their dinner choices to $15.00 maximum if possible. Like everyone else, we have to "tighten the belt" a little, and we have to look at the possibility of scaling back our dinners. Thanks for your consideration in this matter. January 13, 2010 First Degree First Degree, Wednesday, January 13th : Michele Marsh took her Initiatory Degree on December 9th at Apollo Lodge. She will be eligible to take the First Degree on January 13th. The next Initiatory Degree will be conferred by Apollo Lodge in July 2010. We also welcome Marlene Fullmer, who affiliated with Morse Lodge by association at our November meeting. NOW! Dues for 2010 Annual dues for maintaining your membership in Morse Lodge will remain at $45.00 a year. This is very nominal considering the dinners and other benefits that the lodge offers throughout the year. Since Morse Lodge is growing, we have included the office of Financial Secretary in our slate of officers for 2010. This post will be filled by Tom Bernard. Tom’s primary duty in this position is to keep an accurate record between the lodge and dues payments from the members. A dues reminder slip is included with this mailing if you have not already paid dues for 2010. Happy to report that several of our members have already paid their dues for 2010. Members who affiliated with Morse Lodge No. 257 during the fourth quarter of 2009 are not required to pay dues for 2010. Eternal Camaraderie of the Members Recently Charles Morse and Alan Thomas had lunch at the Marines Memorial Building in San Francisco. While this is not business of the lodge per se, Chuck was so impressed by the Marines Memorial that he asked to have this piece included with the bulletin: “Monday, 14 December 2009--A day that really mattered to me—because I was reintroduced to the Marines Memorial Club in its evolved and most glorious ‘state of the art.’ Alan Thomas, understanding my everlasting pride at being, as he calls it, a World War II Marine, took me to a hearty lunch at my old haunt, the dining room at the top, now beyond description in its special ambience. Alan then conducted me on a tour that displays a kaleidoscope of present and past Marine generals and commandants of the Corps along with other heroes whose uniforms were greatly adorned with medals that describe their achievements in the armed defense of our nation. As I gazed at the various photos, plaques and spectacular uniforms and trappings special to the United States Marine Corps, I felt dwarfed—absolutely profoundly dwarfed by this display of giants of glorious distinction. I know I shall return to the Memorial Club many times—to surround myself with the aura of ‘duty, honor and country.’ Thank you, Alan Charles (Chuck) Morse” Chuck Morse, past Noble Grand of Morse Lodge, served with the U. S. Marines during World War II and was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant just before the war ended. Febrary 5, 2010 Tina Phanivong becomes Golden West Noble Grand lodge 322 installs Tina on the fifth. Congratulations! January 9, 2010 Clark Smith is Noble Grand of Odin Lodge Clark and Diana became associates of Morse in 2009. Congratulations!
